Mikey Galita, ZeroG.fit
My inspiration for ZeroG came from my interest in calisthenics. To be able to carry your own body weight in a handstand, planche, levers, etc. gives an illusion of weightlessness, as if breaking the laws of physics and defying gravity. I feel the idea of defying gravity is a great representation of my mission to overcoming all odds and rise above my own limitation whether it be physical or mental.
After breaking off an eight year relationship, at the age of 42 I was told by my doctor that I needed to start taking medication to control my cholesterol levels. I had always link cholesterol with being overweight and because I had an average body, I never expected to hear my doctor tell me I was very unhealthy. This to me was an eye opener, I was taking my body for granted and wasn’t properly caring for it the way I should. With all the negative changes happening in my life I had fallen into a depression and I felt my body starting to slow down. This is when I realized that I needed to change my fate and start going beyond myself pity to make difference in my life.
My first challenge was to run a 5km race which at the time was a very ambitious for me. The second I passed the finish line is when I felt my life begin to change. From that moment on, my limitations became hurdles, my determination to overcome these hurdles transformed into my motivation to defy gravity and go beyond my own expectations.
This website is a documentation of my journey from triumphs to disappointments. Every new challenge brings on more opportunities and experiences.
